There are umpteen plumbing problems that
you can face. Sometimes they manifest one after another, and in some unlucky
cases, many problems strike at once paralyzing the whole plumbing system. Once
a small problem emerges, the best thing is to address it immediately to prevent
build up into a larger problem.
Regular home inspection exercises can help
you avoid plumbing problems or identify existing problems. Some of the most
common problems are:
•
Low pressure
Low water pressure is an indication of
something amiss with the plumbing. It could mean a leak which you should find
and repair immediately. Low pressure could also indicate that you need to
replace some things in the system.
•
Leaking pipes and faucets
When it is just a drop dripping from the
faucet, most people ignore it. A slow leak is also ignored by many and
sometimes hard to spot. A dripping faucet will cost you money as it wastes
water. Consider repairing or replacing it. As for the pipes, wet spots on the
ground are an indication that the pipe is leaking even if you cannot see it.
Any leak should be addressed immediately before it escalates.
•
Clogged drains
Drain cleaners are a major problem, especially
sub standard cleaners. They cause corrosion and slow down the drainage system.
A technician should remove a clog in the drain. To avoid clogs, however,
regularly maintain the system and only use recommended cleaners to avoid
stirring new problems with the drainage system.
•
Running toilet
A malfunctioning toilet is a big issue in
the house. The bathroom will add to your water bill which will strain your
budget. Regular inspections on your toilet to ensure proper working is
important. Call in a technician as soon as you spot a leak to prevent larger
problems and more money spent.
•
Leaking hose Bibb
Hose bibbs are very vulnerable to cracking
due to heat. Exposure to the sun leads to cracks which then cause water leaks.
This is very evident during summer and spring as the hose expands after a cold
winter. Frost proof hose bibbs are a good choice to prevent cracks due to
expansion
